Have to agree carplay needs to be improved a lot more. Although I found that asking Siri to send a message through WhatsApp today worked which was quite useful.

hummm........... WhatsApp is on CarPlay now? Also wanted Slack to be shownup (I'm being greedy ).

Siri works like a charm for me, but I know others that have struggle to get it to do anything. Still an emerging technology, but when it works it's excellent.

I just wish if I could take Alexa with me.....

WhatsApp, It's not on car play per we,. But you can interact through Siri,. So you can ask Siri to read or send messages through WhatsApp.

I've just bought a MY16 and had CarPlay retro fitted by the Audi dealer. I had been told it had it on and I didn't check, they fessed up to be fair. They initially said its not possible to add but I found there is a audi part they can get which is the c. £260 dealer fit extra. Their techs installed it fine - it is literally just a empty CD case with some licence codes in it they applied.

Assume that, unless I was just lucky, the VIN range is for the MY16 vehicles without it already installed at factory?

You would think it's all my 16 but I'm not convinced all are allowed. I did same as you and got it retro enabled by my dealer about 3 months ago but I know a couple of folk with my 16 that say their dealer says their cars aren't eligible.

Indeed odd. Was just using it on first long family drive today and both Audible and Spotify are fantastic. Just wish there were more apps and some more visual as apple seem to have pushed the voice only aspects - understandably - but too far. E.g. I can't see texts on screen when car is parked.
