Apple Car Play

iOS 10.3 adds a few new features to CarPlay. Shortcuts are handy and it seems you don't get the stupid compass in the VC (until you add directions) so you could use Audi nav for VC and HUD and apple maps for additional map info.

Were those shortcuts not there before? I thought they were however could be mistaken. Haven't used CarPlay for a while now - still meaning to test out the Amazing Music app on it

No, they're new with 10.3. Makes it easier as you don't need to come out of an app to go back to the main menu

Agree it's new, just wish there was more apps like Waze

Yep, I keep looking for new apps but Amazon Music was about the only new one I can remember this year!

I don't think it pops anything up on the screen but sounds like it could at least let you get the notifications from Waze?

I use the Audible app a lot. Great for long journeys when you're sick of the radio.

'Car Play' is still pretty much useless b'cuz of silly Siri, IMHO. So I mostly use that with the dial. But agree that apps like Waze and Skype would be some wonderful addition.

Have to agree carplay needs to be improved a lot more. Although I found that asking Siri to send a message through WhatsApp today worked which was quite useful.

Siri works like a charm for me, but I know others that have struggle to get it to do anything. Still an emerging technology, but when it works it's excellent.

Agree, just had a long trip with the kids today and made heavy use of Siri with Apple Music. To choose songs / albums at random via MMI / CarPlay would be slow / dangerous / impossible in comparison.
