Memory Seats Retrofit

I have a MY16 with Electric Heated Seats and electric mirros but would like them to be Memory Seats. In my head surely all this needs is the buttons and some coding or is it super complicated?

I noticed there is a thread on the 4L forum so hoped it would also be possible on the 4M?

I have a call into Audi too as we really would like this option.

2 trains of thought

1. If your door controller(s) is the right version then yes, wire loom, buttons, bit of trim and some coding
2. New door controller(s) plus 1.

No reason why it shouldnt be possible one way or the other.

I called Audi who said it was not possible but didn't give any other response. Anyone know someone who can do it?

Its doable.. they just dont want to do it.

Be good to ascertain what door controllers you have now because if they need replacing (to support memory function) then thats the first thing. All the other bits (buttons/trim/repair wires etc) is easily sourced either from ebay etc or from a dealer.

Easy to get the coding needed.

How would I find out what controller I have? I have VCP and VCDS if that helps.

perfect. plug in VCDS and choose Auto Scan

Click Start and let it run. It will pull the config from the car. Save it as a text file and post it here/pm me.

I tried another dealer this morning and have just had the following reply:

Adding the memory function to these is not really cost effective as we need to replace all the Motors in the Seats as the current ones do not have the Sensors in them for the memory part of the Operation,
The Motors alone come in at about £1000+vat so you can see how this will add up,
If you really did want it let me know and I can give you a full costing.

Bummer.

weird. I cant find any sensors in the seats that are needed in the parts database.

I would get him to put the costing together for you because in the quote it should contain all the part numbers of everything you need. I can then reference those to see if they are actually needed (or not).... just a thought. Your call
