    Hi,

Over the past month my radio signal on mk5 golf has been failing and now only works 1 in 5 times I start the car. Head unit power ok and audio works when on hands free and CD, but nothing when trying to use the radio. Head unit signal test mode comes back with no reception whatsoever and it cannot find any channels when not working. The reception is either on or off when the car is started and is not intermittent throughout journey.

Fuses checked and are ok for radio and heated rear window (antenna is through rear window), both L and R amplifiers in tailgate lining changed with no effect.

Anyone have experience with this happening or know what this is likely to be?

    Appreciated,

    Fizzal

There are two aerial amplifiers. They are installed on left and right in rear boot hatch directly next to rear window these fail resulting in loss of reception see a picture below for reference.

    Hi turboextreme,

I have replaced the two amplifiers in the attached images, however these are long and thin compared to your photo. There is something that looks similar to your picture, although there is only one not two and its located centrally in the boot hatch not near the window. Is this also an amplifier?

    Thanks,

    Fizzal

    Hi
This will sound strange. But my A6 12 plate started falling in and out as well. I was looking at fuses and amps as well. Believe this or not it ended up being the 12 v to usb charger I was plugging in. I must of got a cheap one. Every time I plugged my phone in to charge it dropped out and then came back straight away after unplugging.
Sounds strange I know but in my case very true.
