How do you know if the DPF is working correctly on a 2013 Tiguan tech se Blue Motion as I have covered over 4000 miles in the past few weeks and haven't noticed it working once. I use it for various mixed distances as it better to use then the van.
    Current millage is 38,000 miles.

Does the later tiguan show regen in progress on screen or does it run silent in the background whilst driving.

Background running and regeneration unless there's an issue then you will get warning(s) on the instrument cluster.

thanks for clearing that up as the mrs was making me paranoid as she was reading about dpf failures. vw tell me that the later Tiguan DPF is more reliable as its mounted close to the engine so it heats up more quickly and runs hotter is that true. The earlier ones seam to be mounted further down the exhaust.

You shouldn't notice a DPF regen on any car unless there is an issue.
