    Hi guys.

I am after a little advice on a little problem that has cropped up. Long story short, I changed rear callipers, discs and pads, and now when I apply the handbrake, the light doesn't come on in the instrument cluster, but it always has before. Do I need to adjust the handbrake switch or something?

I have had a real battle with my car (Audi A4 B5 1.8t quarrto sport, AJL). Finding rear callipers to fit was a nightmare (book part was wrong), and had to settle for rebuilding my offside one as Euro Car Parts couldn't get one (but could get nearside, work that one out). Front wheelside cv joints also proved to be a nightmare (again, the book part was wrong). After finally getting things put back together, I am left with this small issue that is really annoying me.

    Thanks in advance

I'm not sure that changing a rear caliper can affect the handbrake light switch, but suggest you check the operation of the switch, and its wiring.

It is located on the handbrake lever. Access is made by removing the rear section of the centre console. See Haynes Manual.

Thanks for your reply. I think it could well be the switch. While pumping the handbrake to adjust the caliper pistons, i did notice that the light didnt come on even with the handbrake lever reaching its very uppermost position. Will pop the center console out later and get a multimeter onto the switch
