    Guys,

    Long time no visit.

My Dec 2009 reg Audi A4 B8 2.0 TDi Saloon with the multitronic gearbox flashed up this strange message a few days ago:

"Gearbox Malfunction. You can continue driving".

Car was driving ok. Can select gears no problem. It disappeared a day later but I took it my local indy who did a full diagnostics check on it.

Says I need a new Gearbox Control Unit. All told, north of £1500 inc parts n labour!

My car has never really given me any problems and I had hoped to keep it till it died but now....

Anyone else have this issue? Searched but didn't find anything specifically related to my variant.

    Thanks.

    Hi zollaf,

Approx 75,000 miles on the clock.

Had only one multitronic oil change at 41000 miles or so.

might be worth doing an oil change and seeing what happens, you might just be lucky, or, an oil chnage will finish it off and be a waste of money ???

    Thanks.

Worried that a gearbox oil change could upset whatever balance has turned the warning light off!

Needs one in the next 500miles anyway, will see if I keep it that long.
