    Hi all,

I'm fitting a dashcam which powers from the 12v cigarette socket on the centre console, trouble is this socket is always live even with the ignition off and so the dashcam will not turn off.

I've read some A3 threads on a fuse switch which can toggle between permanent and ignition on but this doesn't seem to work for my 8P model.

Any ideas or am I just gonna have to plug and unplug every time I want the dash cam to start / stop?

    Thanks in advance

When I looked into doing this you can piggy back off a switched live in your fuse box, get some testers and test to see which fuse comes live when you switch the ignition on, there will be some in there 100% just the fun job of routing the wires! I even thought about souring it off the switched live into the stereo but I'm not sure what implications it may cause

The fuse position for the rear wiper is where I have a fuse-tap for my dashcam into, obviously ignition live.

    Yes, using a fusetap.

One fuse slot for the dashcam (or anything else you have connected) and the other for the equipment fed originally by the fusebox.
