Reconditioned or Rebuild Enginer for 2012 A5 2.0 TFSI

Good Morning All.
I have just recently bought a 2012 Audi A5 TFSI SLine convertible and after 1600 miles travelling, it has broken down and I am now told that I need a replacement engine. The No1 Piston is broken and has damaged the cyclinder. Unfortunately, I do not trust the garage that it is currently at as they replaced all 16 cyclinder valves previously and failed to spot that the piston was damaged. Can anyone please recommend somewhere I can go to get a reconditioned engine with fitting and guarantee close to Peterborough? Needless to say I am gutted - I am following up legal aspects with the car supermarket that sold the car to me, but at the moment they are not willing to take any responsiblilty for fixing it and I have been without the car for nearly 7 weeks now so need to get it sorted. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

if you have only just bought the car then it is the sellers responsibility for 6 months. see the consumer credit act 2015, or sales of goods act for details. basically either take it back for a full refund or get it repaired , pay the bill and take them to court for the costs. obvioulsy do your own research first.

Thank you zollaf - I have quoted sales of goods and consumer act as bought the car in Feb so am within 6 mths. They are telling me car was ok at time of sale and issue has happened since I have driven it. Am seeking legal advise. Thank you for the article though - gives me confidence that I can get it fixed and claim afterwards.

yes, within 6 months it will be presumed that the fault was already there.. go for it, take them to the cleaners.
