    Sorry to be a pain, but just re-reading your post re the vacuum test on the servo hose etc - should i do this with car on or off??

    Hey mate,

    Did the vac test with the brake pumping as you mentioned :

    The vac with car on is around the -20inHG (im guessing hg is not the same as mg as you mentioned, but couldn't find a conversion anywhere) and when brake is pumped is drops/lifts to -10inHG. If the brake is pressed faster then it drops/lifts even more almost close to 0....dnt know what this means.

    If you can make any sense of this id like to know what you think..

    Ps.....it does go bak to -20 when pumping is stopped

    i would say that you have a week vacuum pump. i would repeat the test but blank off everything else including the servo so that you can rule out a leak or a faulty servo, then repeat so you are only testing the vacuum pump. in fact, you can remove the cover plate from the tandem pump to see the vac pump. there are 2 metal sprung loaded blades, i bet one is broken or the spring is broken.

    This is my version of tandem pump- so just take the front cover off and sus it out??

    yeah, basically. one side , nearest the engine is fuel, outside is vacuum, thats how it was on a 1.9 but i think yours is the same. really it should hold 20 all the time and not drop much at all.
