My air con doesn't blow cold. 2005 Passat sport 130 AVF. There are no faults showing with diagnosis, I've had it regassed and if 12v is fed direct to the compressor it kicks in.
A search in here revealed a thread relating to an A4 with exactly the same symptoms, and this was solved by replacing the fan control unit which in that car was below the battery at the back of the engine bay.
So, firstly is Thera fuse for the compressor, as I can't find one, and secondly could the fan control, unit be similar to the A4?
The passenger side fan runs when the engine is warm, the drivers side one doesn't run. It rotates smoothly by hand.
    Any input appreciated.

By of an update on this.
firstly the fuses, main power to the compressor is fuse 5, fuse 15 is the control module and fuse 25 is for the heater blower control module. The compressor clutch relay is up under the dash above the headlight switch, as are the coolant motor relays.
The radiator fan control module is on the passenger side behind the headlight, accessible from inside the front near side wheel arch.
however I fixed mine by changing the electric rad fan, which was U/S. If the electric fan doesn't work the air con won't work, as running with no fan cooling casuses a build up of pressure which can be damaging.
i checked the rad fan by putting 12v through the plug

the plug is located under the plastic cover over the PS fluid reservoir behind the passenger headlight.

I couldn't make the fan work with 12v down this plug, even though a continuity test showed it was a simple 2 core cable, so out. Came the fan.
to remove it there is a small screw at the top, the fan housing then rotates a small amount to release the clips. There is also a small locking tab on the lower leg of the housing, this needs to be lifted slightly to allow the fan housing the rotate

    the offending article

the air con now works great, and the rad fan cost me £35 from a local breaker, so well chuffed overall.
i hope this may be of interest to someone.

Sorry to "hijack" this but I have an a/c issue too. I have an AWX 2005 Trendline TDI 130. I've recently had the a/c re gassed and it does blow ice cold sometimes. Generally I have to put it on "lo" though to get cold air so is there a sensor which is not triggering? I am wondering if a temperature sensor may not be working but I am an amateur so this is guessing.
    Thanks

Is that not what you should do? How will it blow cold air if set to say 18*C?

No, not at all. I've had two of these cars and both would blow cold air at much higher settings. This car was fine last summer. If I only got cold air at "lo" when the fan is also at full blast it would be pointless. My point being, up till last summer, I could set it to say 20 degrees and it would adjust the car itself so I would feel cold air but at a low fan speed, sometimes even higher settings depending on the outside temp. Now I get warm air most of the time except at the lo setting. Something is definitely wrong so any help would be appreciated. To me, it's as if the outside air is not being read correctly so it thinks the car is cooler than it is. Today was a hot day so I would expect to set it to 20 degrees and feel cold air, albeit at a low fan speed. Regards
