Had my letter from Audi saying action required on my car for the software update to rectify the emissions scandal.

Says it will take 30-60mins and to arrange to get it done ASAP.

They are also offering a mobile service to get it done at home/work.

    Anyone had it done yet?
    Any detrimental effects?

Had mine done on 8th June - 2011 SE model. Was in getting new rear discs and pads and Audi South Dublin offered to carry it out while there.

No issues, not noticed a single difference. Power/Economy/Smoothness all the same.

Why would you have it done? Why take a chance of them borking it up?

Just my opinion, but a few lost BHP/NM would be undetectable by a human. For those with a dyno, I think the only laws that apply regarding performance (Lemon Law etc.) relate to original manufacturer figures and there will be plenty of leeway. If you are thinking about getting it done it might be better to hold off for the independent lab/dyno tests to appear first.

Seems like a very distant possibility with everything else that’s going on and it would depend on when you plan to get rid of the car, but it might become compulsory. Things could change obviously (quite soon) but going by the select committee last year it was the full intent of the transport department.

Anyway, if it does become compulsory and you keep knocking it back could Audi be cheeky enough to charge you in a few years?

Is it me or did vw over think this emission cheat?
Was reading about the Mitsubishi cheat and all they did was put a few more psi into the tyres, nothing technical whereas vw put in a program in the software to achieve this 😄

It's a bit more than just a few bhp and torque .

    Mpg aswell !

If it was possible to have this much performance and mpg with this little emissions they would of done it .

But they had to cheat because it was IMPOSSIBLE !

And so therefore are the false claims of a "fix" from a proven lying company .

Had mine done on my 13 plate A6 Avant last Friday (17th June). The only detremental effect I've noticed is the tears experienced from giving back the S6 Avant (!) courtesy car I've had for the last 3 weeks!
