    Hi Guys.

    OK so my heater blows hot air into the driver side foot-well all the time when the heater is on, no matter what the temp is set to.

    I've had a look and the motor connecting to the yellow leavers and they seem to be working as the yellow leaver moves as I change the temp setting from low to high.

    The passenger side works fine and cold air comes out from the dash and window as normal when set to low, its just the drivers side which blows hot.

    I've recently replace the heater matrix/rad (pig of a job) but its working and I get plenty of heat from it...

    Any ideas as I'm getting sweaty feet while my passengers are getting cool ;o)

    For all the above situation, I would start with a VCDS scan on the HVAC system looking for fault codes, as well as the 5 micro stepper motors which control the position of the flaps, there is a something like 6 temperature sensors on the system as well, which feedback into the Climate Control system so it then adjusts the position of the motors. So if one was faulty, maybe it's calling for cooling instead of calling for heat?

    I would then clear the fault codes, in HVAC (08) on VCDS and then select Basic Settings, go to group 001 and click Go. The motors in the HVAC system will then move from 0 - 100% in turn and effectively calibrate themselves. you could then check again for fault codes after this was done, it might show if one of the motors is faulty. These seem to be a bit of a weakness on the system and new from Audi have skyrocketed in price in the last 5-10 years. The variable resistor within the stepper motor assembly, has a little copper disc/plate and this gets worn out in one spot where most of the time the motor sits in the same position, when it gets confused, it usually winds itself past it's calibrated limit and gets stuck.

    Luckily there are many of these on ebay for a fair price, but a gamble as they could be in the same condition where they are getting older. Just look at the manufacture dates and try and buy the newest you can.

    Other than this, I'm thinking, if you remove the yellow driver side temperature stepper motor (the most difficult one to remove), it might be possible to install it with the connecting lever part in the wrong oreintation if you have already removed it? You could remove it and manually control the flap to see if you can vary the temperature. Other than that, worst case might be a broken flap insdie the HVAC system, but that would be a nightmare and I've never seen that being discussed?
