I have a 2006 a3 2.0t quattro. Recently I have been experiencing alot of swaying/twitching from the back of the car particularly on left handers above 30-40mph. It almost feels like the car is being blasted with sidewinds. I have a feeling the bushes may be shot although alot of the threads i have read mention a clunking noise which i have not experienced.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this? I am keen to have a crack at replacing the bushes myself although again alot of the threads i have read so far say its a pig of a job involving burning out the old bushes...

    Any info would be great,

    cheers,

    james

Probably best letting a professional have a look. Sounds dangerous.

could be a damper worn out, broken spring or dodgy tyre.

Give us more info on the tyres you have on the back end.

    Age, condition, brand, pressures etc.

Their bridgestone f1s. Treads above 1.6mm across the tyre although I have noticed a slow puncture on the offside rear...could that be the cause? New tyres ordered for fitting next week

Cheers, got a slow puncture on the right rear so I'll change the tyres next week and see if that solves it. Any idea how tricky dampers are to replace?

Rear dampers are easy shove your head under the car and you'll see the 2 bolts that hold them in.
