If the fan does not cut in at a standstill, eventually the pressure sensor will shut the AC off. Which engine type code is in your car?

It will be a 100PS ATD or 130PS ASZ and the system is the nearly the same for both albeit with a production break for slight differences on cars built after November 2002 so I will assume yours is the earlier version. The two fans are dual speed units and the interesting point is both are wired together on both speeds so if you have one fan working, the other is potentially faulty. The normal speed output is the one used by the AC and this is controlled along the thinner red/green wire. Both speeds are commanded by the radiator fan control unit plus the 130PS engine has an additional fan run on system. You need to establish if the control unit is being commanded to run by the AC control panel. If you can clarify your engine code and the production date, I can post a wiring diagram.
