    Grand stuff gents and ta.

I had to download each csv file for each camera and icon. All seems loaded onto the car but zooming in I cannot see the icon on the map. I will get out over the weekend to seek one out to see what happens.

    Many thanks once again.

    TUTORIAL - POST 1

Ok, so here is my write up at last. Apologies for the delay in getting this out there.

My process is via the OTA (Over The Air) update process. This means I don't use any SD cards to physically transfer data to the car, nor do I use USB cables, tablets or such like. I just use the MyAudi Website to configure the files and then "send them" to the car over the internet. I have a 4G EE Sim card in the car that connects to my account on the MyAudi website and pulls the information down.

    1. Make sure you have an account at the MyAudi website. You will also need your car's VIN to configure your account for your 4M Q7. If you are waiting for your car see if you can get your VIN from your dealer so you can set it up.

    2. Once you have an account created you then need to get the database files for the UK Cameras. I recommend you get them from Pocket GPS World. However to do this you need to create an account on that website and then subscribe for £20 a year to have access to the database files. Note, I am in no way affiliated with this website, but I find it suitable for my needs to get this working.

    3. Once subscribed you need to download the relevant files, of which there are many choices. I found the best one is the "Garmin POILoader - UK - Consolidated by Type (Gatso,Mobile etc)" version in CSV format. This contains 5 CSV (Comma Separated Variable) files which contain all the longitude/latitude data for each of the 5 different types of cameras available in the data set.

    • 1. UK Gatso Fixed Cameras. You know the ones.
    • 2. UK Red Light Cameras (the ones that watch to make sure you dont run a red light)
    • 3. UK SPECS Cameras (the average speed check ones on yellow lamposts - common on motorways)
    • 4. UK Mobile Camera locations. Obviously as mobile they might not be there but are confirmed locations that the police use.
    • 5. UK "Pending" Mobile Camera locations. These are locations where Mobile Cameras have been seen by one or two (or maybe more) people but have not been confirmed as official UK Mobile Camera Locations. - You won't get this data if you untick the box "Include pMobile Files"

    4. Once logged into the Pocket GPS World website go to the download section for Gatsos and make sure you have "Garmin POILoader" under SatNav System selected

    GarminPOILoader.jpg

    5. Under "Camera Selections" choose "UK - Consolidated By Type (Gatso, Mobile etc)" and choose if you want to include Pending Mobile Camera locations under "Include pMobile Files" (I would leave it enabled because you can de-select it in the MMI anyway if you dont want it).

    FileTypes.jpg

    6. Once downloaded to your computer, extract the zip file and you should see the below list of files (or very similar).

    zipfile.JPG

Within the ZIP file you will get a CSV file which contains the camera data for each camera type, along with a small image file (in Bitmap / BMP format) which you can include in the data you send to car. This image then shows up on the MMI Nav screen when you get close/pass a camera location. I have highlighted the key files above in the red box.

Ignore the text files and htm files. You dont need those.

Now, with this information at hand you can now plumb it into your MyAudi account and send the data to your car. I have learnt a few bits of driving the cornwall and back last week so I will share my finds here for you.

    1. Log Onto your My Audi Account here
2.Once logged in, click on "To The Details"

    TUTORIAL - POST 2

    ...Following on...

    3. Click on "Services" and then "MyAudi Special Destinations"

    myaudi2.jpg

    4. You will then see the ability to upload files into your MyAudi Special Destinations as shown in the screenshot above.
    5. Click on "Add Personal POI" on the right hand side.

    myaudi3.jpg

    6. Now, in the box that appears you need to enter:

    • POI Name (Each "Camera Type")
    • The file containing the data
    • The BMP Image file which will show the camera on the MMI/Virtual Cockpit

What's important to remember is the "Name" here. What you enter here is the name that shows on this image below when you get near a camera. Now, me being Mr "Everything must look perfect" means the name is important.

    20160513_061156.jpg

So it comes up on the MMI as "Warning: YourName! in xxx yd"

Where "YourName" is the name you enter on the MyAudi Special destinations. They even include that 1 exclamation (!) mark

So for me, my name for the fixed Gatso camera file is "Fixed Gatso Camera!!" so it will display as "Warning: Fixed Gatso Camera!!!" (because of the 1 exclamation mark already in the MMI system).

With that out the way, back to the MyAudi Website to enter the data.

    • Name: Fixed Gatso Camera!!
    • List: The Pocket GPS CSV File for Gatso Cameras (just browse to the file on your computer)
    • Icon: The Pocket GPS BMP Icon for Gatso Cameras

    myaudi4.JPG

So yours should look like above. Once done, click on the "Save" button in the bottom right and it should go away and upload it to your MyAudi Account

and if successful you will see it added to the list of your personal POI's like below

    TUTORIAL - POST 3

    ...following on...

Repeat the same process for all the other data types (SPECS/Red Light/Mobile and Pending Mobile) cameras and repeat the process just as above making sure the name is how you want.

I've done the other 4 below with the names I want to show on the MMI screen and below is them all imported with the names how I want them on the MyAudi Website

    myaudi6.jpg

Once that is done and you are all happy, you can then "Send Them" to your car by clicking on "Send to vehicle". Make sure you highlight them all on the left hand side so they have red ticks next to them first!

    myaudi7.jpg

When you click on "Send to vehicle" it will come up with some German stuff

    sendtoveh1.JPG

and then say its been transferred to your car.

    sendtoveh2.JPG

and thats it from a home computer / getting it setup perspective. The rest is all done in the car.

I'm going to my car now to take pics and then will follow up next post, so please dont reply to this post now so I can keep them all in order on this forum thread. Be back soon!
