A few weeks ago my dash lights would be dull then ok, then play up again.

Now, the car started this morning, I put it in reverse and it the engine stopped.

I tried again, then the dashboard lights didn't work at all. Now whilst the electrics that work with out the key - radio, central locking, lights, all work fine; the heater that uses the acc position of the key and the start, there's no noise of the engine electrics starting (fuel pump etc) before you start the car. It will turn still but nothing more.

So I don't know what's going on? New ignition switch needed; main relay fault???? Anyone have any ideas? The engine/mechanics are fine but seems to be an electrical problem..... Also found a bit of water in behind the ecu box but taken that all out and non ended up in the plastic box which was good.... Help please!

This might sound stupid......but......have you checked all your fuses?

I'd imagine you have a short to ground.

    O2 sensor wiring possibly?

Maybe try a parasitic draw test if you have a multimeter. See if you have draw on the battery, if so lay multimeter on windscreen and start pulling and replacing fuses one at a time from inside car. Note some draw will be from door being open and do not turn ANYTHING on while testing or you will blow the meter!

You should take a moment to remove the battery tray and clear the drain hole underneath it, there's another under the brake booster, do that one at same time....fingers work best for that one.

Battery tray is two bolts once you remove the battery.
