Regarding the fuel efficiency, according to the Black Circles website an 'A' rated tyre will save you about 6 litres of fuel over the life of the tyre, compared to a 'G' rated tyre. If that's true then it hardly seems worth worrying about!

i am also in need of new tyres soon, but even though 3 litre quattro fronts have worn far far more than rears, probably half life in rear tyres left but fronts almost to telltale

    Update ....
Decided in the end on 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 for my A6 s-line. Now covered 1,000 miles on them and very pleased with grip and positive steering. Better than the previous Bridgestone Turanzas when they were new and hopefully wear will be better too.

Rim protector on the eagle f1 and Michelin are pretty substantial. My Mrs hasn't curbed the wheels yet so that's either down to my good chat with her about her driving or the rim protector doing its job. Most would say the latter 😄

Purchased online from CarTyres.com and fitted by my local Halfords who did a good job.
