Was that a renewal? I've had some outrageous quotes on renewals. Enough people obviously fall for these quotes and don't look elsewhere. I switch all providers regularly to get the best prices. Luckily it is so easy to do these days with the internet.

My advice is to avoid comparison sites and go with independent brokers. Chris Knott seem reasonable and I think offer a discount to VWAF members.

Mine went from £193 last year to almost £300. Searched around and got it to £265 and then tried Chris Knott and they got it for £250. No change in my circumstances, 14 years no claims, no points, no accidents, 20, 000 miles p/a and fully comp for myself and my wife. We have other cars as well, so I was disappointed with the quotes. Perhaps just a sign of rising insurance premiums.
