I'm selling my car very soon but before I do I'll be servicing the car and getting it MOT'd.

I'm very particular about my cars and do not trust main dealers. To be frank I don't think they do a great job. They certainly aren't going to care for the car like I do. To them it's another job they want in and out as fast as possible.

Now, I was going to carry out an oil change myself but wondered of this may put some people off come sale time?? Audi want £199 to replace the oil and filter.

I already have the oil and filter so audi have responded that they will use my oil and filter (genuine audi parts) and just charge me labour of £66.

Now that doesn't sound to bad to me to keep the audi stamp in the book at least.

Personally I'd much like to see specialist garage stamps rather than main dealers but that's me.

Thoughts, is the audi stamp that important to your average buyer?

For £66 I would get the Audi stamp. I also service all my own cars, but I tend to keep them so not bothered about dealer stamps. I don't care if it main dealer or specialist, they all need cars in and out as quickly as possible, as it's all about making money, otherwise why bother. I've have had good and bad service service at both dealers & specialist, but to be fair I don't trust either.

Thanks B5NUT, I guess that is true for the majority but I have used garages in the past that really do care and go the extra mile. Proper car enthusiasts.
Statlers in Sheffield to name one.

I think I'll get them to do it for £66 but begs the question why are they charging £199 for an oil change. That means they are charging you £133 for a few litres of oil and a filter. Absolute madness!

A lot depends on the age and value of the car as well - the extra 66 quid to keep it all Audi stamps would be worth it on a newish 5 figure car, and would likely clinch a sale in your favour. Probably means a lot less on an older car. some buyers are pretty clueless as well. Last car i sold the guy left the handbook and service record on the kitchen table. Didn't seem too bothered when I contacted him later!

It's of reasonable value so yes I'll get it done to keep the audi stamp. Car has just turned 6 years old and I paid £14,000 for it 10 months ago so want to retain as much value as possible.

Assuming the £199 service just includes oil and filter change of course.

I suspect there's more involved in it than that.
