Intermitant start fault

Hi all so for the past month I've been trying to solve a fault with my 2013 2.0tdi bluemotion. If left for a couple of hours it won't start it doesn't try to crank or anything it just dings and lights up the following dash lights

ABS, power steering, esc, tpms, engine light

If you try to scan the car it says cannot scan basic obd as if it can't talk to thr ecu. Now take the key out and put it back in a couple times eventually the engine will crank and fire into life. At which point you can scan the car and it stores faults under Canbus, ABS, Power steering and central electronics modules the main fault that gets shared across the modules is

01314 - cannot talk to ecm

Now with the car now running you can clear all these fault codes and turn the car off and start it again and it starts and idles no issue what so ever. How ever leave it for a few hours and it'll do the same again no crank just errors until you take the key in and out a few times.

When it's running if you drive it it sometimes cuts out momentarily and comes back to life. Other times it'll cut out and take a few tries with the key to get it going.

Things I've tried to fix the issues -

- New AGM battery on the car and coded to the car

- replaced the 100 relay under the bonnet fuse box to a 644 relay

- had an auto electrician come out and replace 2 other relays under the dashboard drivers side which apparently are connected with the ignition circuit.

I'm at a loss of what to look for next. When it first happened I had a friend come with his 7k snap on scanner and that pointed a Terminal 30 - open / short to ground which pointed us to the terminal 30 relay under the bonnet thinking it was that but it wasn't.

Can anyone shed some light on where to look from here at all please the cars been off the road a month already.

Most people on here are going to need the results of a full car VCDS scan to help you. I have seen this on these cars and it was water damage to the engine ECU.

Cheers bud. I've heard you're in the UK actually where are you based?

I can get a full scan from the Carista app which provides things like part numbers of each module and unit if that helps some along with any codes stored in each module. Or would more data be required?

So just managed to get it started and took it for a run I've managed about 9 miles then parked at a friend's let it sit for a bit and got back in started it again and it burst into life but when I set off down the road it cut out again and did it 3/4 times before it continued to run.

On the way back about another 5 miles I put cruise control on and noticed my mileage didn't disappear in thr bottom left corner of the MFD Screen like it usually does when cruise control is on. I turned cruise off and on a couple times but it wouldn't display what cruise was set at although the cruise control was working as it should.

So quick update.

Think it's been resolved. Original ECU was dead even though it would start on occasion and read fine sometimes. It had an intermittent fault somewhere so new ECU has got it back on the road.
