Hi everyone, I have read this thread twice!, yes all 32 pages... and cannot see if anyone managed to have the running boards put on a vehicle with All Wheel Stearing (AWS), be it OEM (original manufacturers) or third party, would love to know as going from a 2006 q7 with steps to a SQ7 (with AWS) with no steps and the children are protesting !, any help most appreciated.

Yep. So I've seen 2 q7s with AWS and 3rd party running boards fitted. No issues. It can be done.

Thank you Andy, any examples with Audi original running boards ?

from recollection you had done yours or helped someone do theirs, are the fittings the same 3rd party / original?

No mate, I've never personally fitted the original Audi boards myself. I've only fitted 3rd party ones.

The fittings are slightly different from what I understand but as I haven't seen a set of mounts for the original Audi ones in great detail I can't provide any more detail sadly.

All I know is that we have fitted 3rd party ones to a Q7 4M with AWS and MudFlaps and they fit fine and never had any issues.

I've never found out the "real" reason why the audi boards can't be fitted to a Q7 with AWS. Lots of people have thrown in their views as to why it might be (wheels hitting boards as they turn / too much weight for example I've heard.. but we have never found out the real reason

I'll ping my local Master Tech anyway... he may know

    Cheers

    Andy

    Update

My Master Tech says its because AWS + Genuine Audi Running boards will take the car over its weight limit of 3000Kg as the AWS unit is a heavy beast

    Thats apparently the reason....

3rd Party ones can be "lighter"

Sorry to revive an old thread

But after reading all 32 pages couldnt figure out if MY17 onwards needed any cutting of the undertray?

Or is it a straight bolt on without cutting?

    Cheers

    Hi Rolly

The undertray needs cutting on any MY to make them fit AFAIK
