    Hi all,

    New here. I need to remove the IM on my 2.0 TSI and so will need to replace the seals on the injectors that come out with the IM. I've just almost had a heart attack after seeing the price of the VW/Audi tool! I've seen a few almost identical kits on ebay for £30, that mention FSI engines. I'm led to believe that whilst the injector seals are different between the two engines, the tool is the same.

    Engine is a CCZA 2.0 TSI, 2010.

    Can anyone tell me if this is the right tool to replace the seals on my injectors?

    Thanks!

    Well given that 80+ people had viewed the thread and no one replied, I figured no one cared anyway...

    I got the official VW tool off eBay for £75.

    maybe, just maybe, everyone that viewed didn't actually know the answer. its not a job that has to be done very often and most that do need to do it will entrust the job to a specialist or main dealer rather than having to fork out for a tool they will only need once.

    A bit sensitive there? I was just joking as I figured no one would be fussed either way - I simply replied to say I'm sorted (ie, I now have the tool I require) to save people wasting their time by answering a question unnecessarily. Or did I not put enough smileys?

    And fork out for a tool that I'll use once? Correct, but I'd rather spend £75, do it myself, and learn valuable knowledge about the car I plan to keep for a while, than spend £400 in labour to have something that'll be quite easy (but time consuming). Once I've used the tool I'll be able to sell it on eBay for the price I paid anyway...

    yeah, sorry, i am a really sensitive type of person what would be ace would be if you could take some pics whilst you do the job and then it could go in the section where other things like that go. if you can give a few people the confidence to do the job then all the better. heck you could even hire out your tool instead of selling it ??

    That's the plan. I'm no car expert (ok ish understanding of how the TSI engine works, just very little experience) and this will be by far the toughest job I've performed myself, but I'm looking forward to giving it a go. I'm getting all the bits together and only have the seals themselves and the new intake manifold to get, but I'll be ordering them from the US. £320 for the manifold here, or £96 + VAT and postage. Overall, replacing the IM and removing the carbon deposit of the ports is going to cost me about £350 but it's better than the £700+ it'd cost at a dealer and like I say, I'm learning loads about the car and I enjoy technical stuff.

    sounds like a plan. be careful getting stuff from the states as you may get charged import duty. i bought some gearbox bits for my s4, 500 parts, 100 postage and another 120 for taxes.. still cheaper than the uk but wasn't expecting it.

    Yeah I've worked it out. The part is ~£100 so call it £120 + £25 postage + £13 handling (maybe) so at ~£160 it's still less than half the EU price, which is utterly shocking. I'll get the seals from UK, but fingers crossed I won't actually need 4, so I can always sell on the ones I don't use.

    IM = ~£160
    Seafoam = £17
    4L fluid pump = £16
    Oil Filter tool = £6
    Injector seal tool = £75
    Injector seals (4) = £34

    =~£308 so far. Other things I'm buying at the same time like Redex 500ml (£6), oil/air/cabin filters, and magnetic tools don't count as I needed them anyway.

    So yeah, £308 is a lot, but as I say it's cheaper without labour and at least I'll fun (and lot's of use of the F word no doubt) doing it, and I'll feel happy and proud that I've done it. Fingers crossed, the car should be a lot happier and less stuttery at idle afterwards.
