I have a 2010 Passat Wagon and I would like to remove the plenum cover from under the windshield so that I can clean the debris that's accumulated under the plenum. I see that I need to remove the wipers and the four retaining clips. However, my question is relating to the actual removing of the plenum. The plenum looks like it is attached to the windshield base. Is this just a compression fit channel that I can simply pull the plenum away from the windshield to remove? Is the plenum held to the windshield by an adhesive?

I think I found an appropriate plenum removal guide: APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.

undo the window wipers bolts and prise off wipe wipers

Lift the plastic cover at the engine end , and it should pop the cover at the widscreen

Shine torch in plenum and look for water , if any water then look or prod for drain cover. Get a garden hose and try and wash all the rubbish out, without getting water in any electric boxes.

I take the rubber drain covers out, as they tend to trap the rubbish

Going by your pictures, the leaves and needle things will be choking up

    Hello niall,

Thank you for the response. I'll clean under the plenum this weekend when the car is back at my house and post the findings.

it just wont be leaves and pine needles choking it, dust and grime is just as bad , that's why gently hosing the area out will clear the area properly, you will see stuff jammed under pipes etc

One hint is after taking the nuts off, lift up wiper blade off windscreen and rock it back and forth with two hands to snap up the wiper arm. It will be tight around the thread area. Its actually easier to do than describe it.

Also look at youtube for similar cars, or A4 . The rubber pipes are in the middle, prodding with long screw drivers can clear it

They can take a while to get off, but perhaps not that long. I cheap wiper puller is handy for simplifying the job IMHO.
