Squeaky power steering.

Hi,

I have a 2002 Bora TDI Sport. The power steering is making a squeaking noise when under tension. It sounds like a belt but the belt kit was replaced less than a year ago my mechanic says it appears to be fine still. The fluid level is fine and steering feels fine to operate. The squeak is particularly prominent on full lock (both ways - particularly if I apply extra pressure to the steering wheel) but can happen at any point. It comes and goes a bit..

Anyone seen this or have any idea what it could be?

Check the alternator freewheel clutch pulley. Is probably seized.

Never put the steering wheel on full lock until it makes a different noise, you burst the seals
