For years now ive been putting 250/300 mls of 2 stroke oil into my Golf MK3 Tdi converted T4 van every time i fill up , it smooths things out, better acceleration and better MPG ,
Has anyone tried it in their BRE ?
Have you had any problems ie smoke, poor running ?

I would not do it, especially if you have DPF. I had 1.9 PD engine and I have never added any additive, car passed 260000km without any problem regarding fuel injection system even that in my country diesel fuel is not so great quality.

I used 2SO for about a year or so in my BRE for about a year or so, on and off. Until one day I was concerned about the car smoking under acceleration. I checked the injector calibration with VCDS and noticed one injector was being compensated for quite heavily by the ECU (+1.5). i started using Miller's diesel additive instead which has returned the injector readings to normal. Truthfully, I didn't notice any improvement in mpg or engine running but it made me feel better, at the time, adding 2SO. I'll never add it again but I'm going to stick to Miller's Ecomax instead...

Summary is this which I don't think renders the study null void and wrong. I don't see that there is a major difference in specs that would mean the lubricity findings of the study to be far from the truth with either spec.

    JASO FB
Increased lubricity, detergency, exhaust smoke and exhaust system blocking requirements over FA.
    JASO FC
Lubricity and initial torque requirements same as FB, however far higher detergency, exhaust smoke and exhaust system blocking requirements over FB.

And if the 30 years of experience in Sweden had proven anything don't you think the advice would be a bit more formal that just being recommended on internet forums? Each to their own, I've got nothing to lose - I have 30 litres of JASO FC in the garage that is bought and paid for but it's for sale...
