    Hi there,

Hoping someone can help with my car issue.

    It's a 2009 VW Passat 1983cc tdi high line 140.

The fault I get is the yellow glow lamp light ( spring shape)
The codes I get from reader are
009571-turbocharger boost control position sensor circuit
    000665-boost pressure regulation

I can reset the car back to normal by switching it on and off.

The fault only occurs when I'm driving at speeds of 70mph above and accelerating hard, the light will come on and the car will become slow to respond feels like turbo is not kicking in.
If I'm driving around town all day not really doing any speeds the fault doesn't seem to happen.
I've been told it could be the boost pressure sensor but then someone also said it could be a turbo needs replacing/recondishining?

All help is much appreciated thanks.

From what I read (no TDi here) 74k miles is a bit too early for turbo fail? There have been posts of people getting their turbo vanes cleaned by squirting Mr Muscle into them or some specific cleaner for the job that de-gunks. Haven't take a note of the threads as no TDi here.

Stay away from supermarket soup diesel. It's got a high wax content. Go on a course of about 900 litres of Shell V-Power as that contains a cleaning agent known to work. Or Forte's Turbo Cleaner. Roughly the same price as going Shell V-Power (with the club card discounts) but you don't get the miles. Unknowingly I ran my tFSI 2.0L on 91RON for over a year from Asda and noticed a downgrade in performance (my engine with Stage1 tune wants 95 or 98RON) Did the Shell petrol equivalent V-Power as above and back again to peak after a time.

Your diagnostic is telling you Boost Control Position Sensor so would go for that were it me. But see what happens and take a note of when the fault re-appears each time as you're running the cleaner or V-Power first

Let us know how you get on?

Yea I had it on a few tanks of supermarket diesel, so the last tank was v-power and red-ex see if that makes a diff

    Hi Guys,

Updated on the problem. Not resovled yet.

Ran 2 tanks of V-Power diesel, Then 40 liters of V-Power and 2 bottles of Forte diesel turbo cleaner but the same fault still occurs.

Any next steps would be much appreciated.

Worth changing the boost pressure sensor??

    Thanks

I would consider the Mass Air Flow meter

Usually if it goes, it cuts out just as the turbo is to kick in ............................ the engine management light comes on , you switch ignition off and the car is ok ...................... until your revs are up just before the turbo kicks in again.

I run my diesels on supermarket fuel and have no problems.

I am not saying for definite it is the MAF , but I would replace the boost pressure sensor first and see how it goes ........................ just bare in mind it could be the MAF if that doesn't help you

    Thanks for that.

Does anyone know if i should get a genuine sensor or is one from euro parts ok? Also is there anywhere other than VW to get genuine parts?

    Thanks.

Get the real deal. Think it'd be only a few quid price difference. If there's been a part revision (shown by a later revision letter on the end of the part #) they you'll get it. Dealer spares' ETKA will show the latest and will give you a location diagram printout too

There's also some cheeep Chinese counterfeits around at the aftermarket parts dealers. All in official looking boxes.
Some do work, others not. But you never know what's what. Glow Plugs particularly are available with rice

NGK or Bosch for glowplugs , try EuroCarParts

However I would go to dealer for sensor, & you may find the glowplugs are the same price at dealer
