Central locking question

Apologies if this has already been covered, I've seen similar problems posted on here but non are quite the same as far I can see.

My drivers door has stopped unlocking via the key fob, it locks but wont unlock. However it will lock and unlock with the key?
I'm guessing its going to be a new lock mechanism but any advice would be appreciated.

Covered lots of times, the door won't open from the outside door handle but will open from the inside handle.. You will need a new mechanism, it's a common fault and you may also find the passenger side stops working at some point soon with the same fault.

The door opens fine from the outside using the key, locks and unlocks no problem. It just won't unlock using the key fob?

Don't know, but do the other doors unlock with fob,or is it confined to drivers door only not unlocking.

Press the unlock button on the remote, if you cannot open the door using the external handle, but you can using the internal, then it's the common fault that most A6's appear to suffer.

Even though it locks and unlocks with the key?
It was buzzing/chattering when locking and unlocking using the remote a few months ago but then it stopped and has been fine until it has now packed in altogether with the remote.
Looks like it could be a new lock then. Cant really complain its done 108k now and this is the first thing thats failed!

Mine usually only does it when it's damp, even then a few scans/clears with VCDS usually see's it alright for a few months

I mostly just open the rear drivers side door and then open the front door manually...not particularly graceful but works for me!
