Weird MMI audio issue

Hi folks

Got a weird issue happening with audio in my car. 2010 A4 Saloon with Bose amp/speakers.
The audio is only coming out of the left hand speakers, regardless of balance control setting.
The audio from SD card/ipod/DVD plays fine, but the radio, any waveband, any channel, cuts in and out at approx 1 second intervals.
The phone/nav audio comes out of the right hand speakers fine.

Any suggestions anyone?

Suspiciously, this is happening since the car came back from having some work done ("gateway ECU" replaced) at the local dealer, wondering if they've dislodged something somewhere?

Sounds like a component protection issue? If it's just back then I'd be taking it back to them.

You're right - this morning it's saying "Component Protection - The availability of the infotainment system is currently limited."

What does this mean? I've never heard of component protection, what is it?
