    Thanks Richard. I did take it off, neg. disconnected first of course, and use my Optimate to bring it back up when I managed to deeply discharge it last year, and I've checked/charged it twice since then, on the car and connected, to see if it will still hold full charge after standing for 10 days, which fortunately it does.

    The car hasn't suffered for that, but if I need to charge it in future (hopefully not), I'll follow the approved method.

    @OP -- Did the "old wife's tale" method help at all with your PRNDS all lit?
    Does a VCDS Autoscan show anything? Post here after you've cleared all codes to avoid showing what's historic.

    Trouble with Halfords / or garage battery diagnostic is that you have to drive there so your battery has had some very recent high charge from your alternator. These load tests are alright for a battery that's well and truely had it. But not so accurate for a battery that's starting to show its age but (like my OEM Moll at six years old) still giving some current

    Hi Phil, did you manage to get the problem totally sorted. I am having the same issue with mine and at my wits end!! Any advice would be HUGELY helpful. Thank you
