    Hello,
I have service now! warning. The problem is that I changed the oil before 5000km. My question is:

Is there only one type of service warning? For example my BMW has few: for oil, brake fluid, coolant, etc. Where can I see for what is this service light.

If it is only for oil can I set the time until next service via VCDS.

My second question is about rear brake pads. I know that we have sensors only on the front pads but on Audi A8 the EPB is monitoring the rear pads thickness. Is it the same on our cars?

I have brake pad warning light but my front pads and sensors are fine, but my rear pads are shot.

There are 2 warnings one for the oil service and one for the inspection service.

These can be set with either a time based ragime or a distance based regime, you can reset the oil service in the MMI but you will need VCDS/VAS to reset the inspection.

The A6 C6 does not monitor the brake pad thickness like the A8.

Check the wiring to the brake pad plugs as it is not uncommon for a pplug to come adrift or a wire snap.

There is a post on here that explains the wiring route indepth, it goes from one caliper to the other then grounds out.

Im really disappointed that the rear pads are not monitored. Even my 25 years old bimmer has this option.

However thank you for your response.

I will check the sensors on the front first.

The sensor is built into the pad unlike the BMW ones that clip into the pads.

Does this apply just to facelifts? Ask as have only had the oil service ever show on my pre and have set these to 5k miles, the first I just change the oil filter and the second oil and filter, have never encountered an 'inspection service' or seen it in the MMI menu.

The inspection service just displays service due on the DIS as does the oil service.

If you have an oil service reset and the inspection is due the the service due stays up or appears when due.

I don't know what a prefacelift car has in the MMI i expected it to be the same.
