    Hi Guys

Just a quick one, im putting my 1.8T a3 in for an oil and filter change soon. Should i have the timing belt changed while im at it?

The car is a 2000 X with 33k on the clock and FASH and as far as i can tell it hasnt had the belt done before!??

I'd get it changed.... even though the belt has only covered 33K, it's 7 years old, and i'm pretty sure change intervals are 60k or 4 years, whichever comes first.

    Peace of mind, ect

Shall add that to the list then, i always would edge on the side of caution with the timing belt. Dont think i could afford a full rebuild

hmm i'm in a similar situation, cars done 27k but is 7 years old. I dont think service schedule says if the belt was done or not. It has full audi service history, if I rang them you reckon they would have a record?

from my own experience I would get it replaced - I had one snap on an old ford - it caused a huge amount of damage (and cost!)

One of those cost balances - costs a fair few quid to get it changed but costs many more of those hard earnt pounds to get it repaired if it does let go ...

As for knowing if it was replaced on previous services - I would have thought Audi would keep a complete service record on their computers of what they did and when if it was done with them ... can't hurt to give them a call.

Bit like Horlicks - might help you sleep easier at night

Make sure the water pump and engine mount bolts are also replaced.
