    Hi All

I am somewhat confused with all the numbers and specifications. When I called Audi they recommended Shell 0w-30 as this work for the regular service and the longlife service and meets 504.00/507.00 (507.00 I believe is for the DPF which I do not have).

So I picked up some Castrol Edge Titanium FST 0w-30 thinking this will do the same job. When I looked on the specs it said 502.00/505.00.

To confuse things even more the Castrol Edge Titanium FST 5w-30 meets 504.00/507.00.

So which oil do I use? Audi told me they have moved from 5w-30 to 0w-30.

Will the Castrol Edge 0w-30 do the job? If I have 5w-30 currently and top up with 0w-30 will it cause an issue?

    Thanks All.

It's definitely 5W30, either Castrol Edge or Quantum LL3.

I have a similar engine in mine, been using Shell Helix Ultra AVL 5W-30 for the past four years. Audi UK website says preferred oil is Castrol EDGE Professional 5W-30 Audi oil < Servicing and MOT < Owners Area < Audi < Audi UK so you'd be okay with that, or any of the alt brands mentioned in this thread that are 5W-30 and meet 504.00/507.00.

    Hi All

Mikeybutch - Oil change was done under a service by Audi in August. I was enquiring in case the level had dropped which it hasn't yet, always best to have some oil handy. Audi advised it was 0w-30 hence the question although I have always had a top up of 5w-30 from Audi from past services. 504.00/507.00.

Jangles - thanks this is what I will pick up after exchange the current oil I have.

    Thanks All
