    Hi all,

Firstly, apologies in advance for this question as I am sure I am not the first to ask, but I have searched high and low through the forums and wider internet.

Simply, I just bought my first Audi. 2011 Audi A6 with the standard MMI Navigation (not Plus nor Audi Connect) just the SD card slots. I wanted to update the maps and according to the manual I can do this by download via myAudi (to PC and transferring to an SD card), or go to a dealer and pay for the service. I registered on myAudi and set everything up but there are no links to any portal to select maps for download, nothing.

I spent a good few hours trying various every possible link to no avail. I know I haven't got the Plus or Audi Connect online features.

There is either a DIY trick that Audi has managed to hide very well or my manual is incorrect and I must obtain updated maps for SD card via my dealer.

I would be very grateful for any clarity on this point. If I get an answer from Audi customer care I'll post it here for others. Meanwhile, fingers crossed and thanks for your patience!

    John

Download updates only apply to facelift cars with MMI Plus and Audi Connect. SD Card updates require a trip to the dealer or hoping an unauthorised download from a website works

As Johnsimcox says, the maps for pre-FL cars can't be updated via MyAudi - only newer (post Facelift) cars came with online updates, which are free for the first 3 years, and even that's limited to cars with Nav Plus & Audi Connect. My wife's 2015 A3 works in this way; you go to MyAudi, wrestle with Java and eventually create a map update SD card which can be loaded in the car. She has Nav Plus & Connect - I'm not sure the maps are updateable on the SD based Nav.

My car is a 2012 A6 with Nav Plus and MyAudi hasn't ever offered map updates (not that I was expecting it to). My manual doesn't mention online updates either - perhaps you've got a manual for an FL A6? Check when it was printed.

Thank you John and hellodave for your replies. Audi Care also phoned me the next day to answer the same query and confirmed the same. The maps can be updated from the non Nav Plus and non Audi Connect Audi A6 (C7) variants, but you will need to get them updated via your Audi dealer. Estimate was circa £160. I was told to wait until March when the maps for this system is updated. Lesson learnt. Many thanks again. And still absolutely love my A6 3.0 S-line Quattro.

Exactly! It wasn't a process for your average non-techie person. I think I had to download some third-party unpacker or something like that?
