I currently drive a 2012 Audi A6 3.0 Tdi And I am looking to move to either a 2014 A6 3.0 Bitdi or a 2013 A8 3.0 tdi. Any advice and views would be appreciated.

Very different cars. The biturbo is a great car but the A8 is very nice indeed-a bit of a step up in quality. A lot would depend on the options fitted as well. Depends what you want and how you drive. You really need to drive them both.
Current- A6 C8 40 tdi quattro s line Daytona Grey
    Gone-S3 sportback, A6 C7 biturbo saloon,A4 B 8.5 avant, A6 C6 3.0 tdi Quattro saloon, A6 C5 2.8 Q Avant

The A8 I'm currently looking at is a 2013 3.0 TDI (250 PS) quattro Sport Executive with 17000 miles and a Audi A6 3.0 BiTDI Black Edition Tiptronic Quattro with 9000 miles on it.Both cars similar price. Speed is not the prioity as my current A6 is fast enough for me. Reliability and comfort are more my priority. There are comments about the A8 being a monster in size but Physically there does not appear to be much difference in overall size

I don't think the size is much different but I do think the A8 will be more comfortable as the BE will have 20" wheels which can make it quite hard. Depends if it has air suspension though. Nice quandary to be in!

The rear seats on the a8 don't fold, if that makes a difference. I use the folding seats on mine quite often and while it's not a deal breaker, I do like having them.

I've got a8 2012 3.0 tdi, and If I would have to choose again and between these two I would go for a8 definitely, and for spec you talking about, sport executive. Very comfy car, bear in mind I have mine on 18" alloys and sport executive comes with 20", so ride quality could be different.

Do you care about resale value?

The folding rear seat sketch is a consideration, but IMHE (with both), the A8 is entirely better than an A6 saloon to drive & own; A6 Quattros are a delight to dispose of tho - they literally queue up with a bagful of debt to take them off your hands.

Leggy ageing A8s are harder to dispose of than a rich old spinster auntie with a 30 year cough! = Bargain mega motoring for the adventurous!

    They're very different cars.

    Agreed about the size misnomer tho - a 2015 3 series BMW is wider than a 2010 D3 A8.

Resale value isn't too much of an issue. At 62 years of age I just want the car to last quite a few years lol
