Got my allroad in for an oil change today and my loan vehicle is a facelift allroad with the 272(? 200Kw) engine.

Not done a huge number of miles but thought I'd note down some quick impressions.

    - 272 s-Tronic box definitely gives a more "connected" feel between the engine and drive train. It just feels like there is a bit more bite when you make large throttle changes.
    - I think the 272 engine is a tiny bit smoother than the BiTdi. I had read that in some reviews I think although maybe it's not fair to compare my 27k miles car with one that is only just around 1200 miles
    - Low down torque on the 272 feels lacking, it needs to be over 2000 RPM before its really pulling, BiTdi pulls from 'anywhere'. Also BiTdi revs out more readily. Having driven the car again (to go pick mine up) I think what I was noticing is turbo lag
    - So 272 has lag from one big turbo, BiTdi has lag from gearbox - both addressable by using paddles or sports mode
    - BiTdi sound is missing
    - Sports seats = Good, standard seats (in loaner) = acceptable but not great.
    - Not a fan of black as a colour for allroad

Funnily enough I stopped off at a supermarket on my way home and followed another white allroad in and parked next to it. Spoke with the owner. It was a 245, same age as mine but he'd done nearly double the miles. He loves the car but commented that the one niggle he had was the "lag" when you boot it and it is not expecting it.
Also turns out he ALSO had a air suspension pump failure about the same time as mine - bad batch of pumps probably as the cars were built very close together.

Going from a 2.0 ltr to a test drive in both I was amazed at just how good the 272 is! The Bi t was a hoot, like a steam train on the road. But for my needs the 272 is more than enough!

I current have a 2013 2.0 Multi saloon and have just ordered the 272. Haven't driven one but am sure it will be quick enough. The BiTDi was probably out of reach price wise with the higher monthly payments and bigger fuel bills. I found the 2.0 adequately powered (previous car was a Merc C350 CDI) so am sure the 272 will be more than powerful enough for me. Also have always wanted a Quattro so another box ticked. Most on here with 272s sing their praises.

    You will love it.
Ultimately the BiTdi is a bit quicker and has a bit more drama to it but the 272 was very satisfying to drive (and I don't mean to belittle the performance - it is a very quick car).

The BiTdi with a suitably robust s-Tronic box would be a thing of beauty as you'd get the extra low down punch and the more direct feeling of the dual clutch box.
A Tri-turbo with the s-Tronic would be epic! - but they have not released the tri-turbo yet and at present the s-Tronic just would not cope.

The 272 is a cracking car, amazing performance (for such a big car) and over 50mpg if you drive it sensibly, what more could you ask for!

I have an MTM remap on mine and its got a few more ponies and torques than standard and its stupidly quick.
I see around 45mpg on a steady motorway drive around 80-85(k)ph. Economy is never an issue in the bitdi unlike the 2.0tfsi Q5 i once had. Very thirsty!
