    Hi guys,

just discovered this forum and loving it! Anyway back to the topic...

I have just bought an Audi A3 Saloon 2.0 TDi which hasn't come with sat nav (didn't look at the spec properly), however it does have SD card slot and is apparently Sat nav ready. I need Sat Nav for my job and am wondering what the cheapest/easiest way is to get it?

I have phoned Audi and they said it will cost £500 for the SD card and £95 for activation, I think this is a bit steep as I've already forked out over £25k on the car. Am I able to buy an SD card online and just plug that in? Or can I buy it cheaper from another company?

    thanks in advance

    Matt

    Hi,

I think you'll find it's going to be dealer supply and then activation only unfortunately.........

    Yeah, definitely a dealer job.
I got mine done by my local dealer for £495, it would have cost that if I'd specced it with the car so I'm happy with that.

Yep unfortunately this will be a dealer supply and activation only I'm afraid.
Bare in mind these Sat Nav are ok, but stand alone (Tom Tom etc) are far better and cheaper and easier to update

I've had a quote for just over £200 from the audi specialist near me (Melksham). I also had a quote from Audi for £150 for the maps + £150 labour

If anyone knows of anywhere less expensive I'm all ears. Mine is a second hand A3 and I'm in exactly the same situation as you.

There are tonnes of bargains on ebay but (as far as I know) each SD card comes with a license key which can only be used once, and it is activated online by the dealer/garage and associated with your VIN.

I would LOVE for an Audi tech to clear this up though as I've heard about 4 different things about how this works, and each audi garage I ask seems to tell me a different story.

    Hi,

May I ask what the dealers name is in Melksham as I just had a quote for £595 from my Audi dealer?

    Thanks
