    Hi,

I have problems with my Golf TDi, 1997. It takes too much time to start. I have run diagonostic test and found that glow plug relay needs to be changed. I did changed it but still the problem is there. All glow plugs were checked and fine. It takes time everytime i start it. I have changed all fuel filters etc. When i try push start it doesnt take too much time and starts stright away. I changed its cam belt two months before and probably that can be the reason... or i need to run diagonistic again after changing glow plug relay to remove the error from ECU.. if anybody knows please help thanks

If the battery is less than 100% you may not have enough power for the glow plugs and the starter.

Have you checked the main engine earth strap? A poor earth will mean the starter turns more slowly than it should.

If you have recently changed the cambelt, i would recheck the static injection timing with vagcom or similar, as it could have changed slightly.

Other than this, temp sensors or fuel pump.

I would say most probably timing or air in the fuel.

Also try disconnecting the 4 pin temp sensor, and see if it fires up straight away.
