    Hallo.
Sorry about the language. I am from Denmark, no qualified help to get on Danish forums.

Car- Audi A4 Avant. 2003 1.9 tdi 130 hp. AVF

I have a oil leak. And it's driving me crazy.

Just changed the valve cover gasket. And cable loom.

I thought I maybe came from a bad head gasket. But no.

It comes out on the bottoms bolt on the exhaust manifold. I off cause cleaned it very good.
Then I drive a few miles and I can see it on the bolt.
    What can it be??

I am 100 % sure its not from the VCG.

I uploaded a picture, sorry about the quality.
It's hard to cut the picture down to 1 mb

    Please help.

    Best regards
    Michael

Hi Michael, maybe from the tandem pump and running down to the manifold? get an ultraviolet dye and torch kit and trace the leak source with that, you can get kits on amazon or fleabay.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

My tandempumpe is also brand new.
I can see the oil is beeing pushed out on the 3 bolt. Last one is impossible to see. Not enough room.

    Don't think so.
Water is clear. Oil is fine, no mayo.

When start up, there is grey/white smoke it last 1 sekund maybe less.

Can it be bad valve stem seals?

There is no smoke when the pedal goes down.
How can there get oil in the exhaust manifold?
Quite sure it's comes from that.
I can see oil onto the bottom nuts...

Doubt if stem seals would give you an external leak out from the manifold without lots of blue smoke while driving. I'd clean it up again and try a dye kit for what it costs.

Okay. Dont want to be like a juke and don't listen for good answers.
But I changed the valve cover gasket.
The only 2 possibilitys is the inlet or outlet. There are only the holes on the side where the leak is.
    Best regards

    Good morning.
    No did never find it.

I think its normal on these engines.

It didn't got any worse, and i drived the car for about 70000 miles.
I dont own the car anymore, but my good friend does, and its the same.
It has now allmost ran 240000 miles.
    And i goes perfect.

The oil use quantity is still about 0.5 to a 1.0 L on 10000 miles.

To be honest, I miss the car.

    I bought a 2011 A4 B8 2.0 tdi
The B6 was much better build in my opinion. More functional, better materials. No plastic sounds here and there, when you meet at speedbump or a hole in the road😀 Could continue with why I think the B6 is better😀
Yes, the design is off cause better on the b8. But that's it

    Good morning..
    Thanks for quick reply

I don’t think they’re meant to leak oil

Guess I’ll have to keep looking then

Tired of the oil spill in my driveway
