Random Airbag Light when acceleration or go over a bump!

    Hi guys,

The old girl is having a strange issue when accelerating or going over a bump, the Airbag light comes on, sometimes for a few seconds, other times longer!

Any idea what this could be?

I have used a cheap Chinese code reader and got this: 01738 Crash sensor for front airbag - drivers side g283 - Sporadic 011 - open

Just a bit worried about this as its the Mrs car and has my 2 year old inside, need to make sure airbags would deploy in an accident !

    Its 2002 A4 B6

    Thanks in advance!

I use a firm call dashboard worning he comes out plugs his laptop in and tells you what is wrong, but it depends were you live. If he can he fixs it there and then. Airbags is his main job, he knows them inside out.

    Thanks!

I think I may try swapping over the crash sensors to see if that changes the error code, does anyone have a guide on how to access them and where they are on my b6?

Any idea what the Audi part number is for the G238? I have tried to put that into ebay with no results...

    Thanks!

Don't have the code lists with me but from memory there are two sensors for the drivers side. One is between the radiator and the headlight, the other is in the bottom of the b pillar and can suffer from water ingress from where the water gets trapped in the bottom of the door seals on the back door. Both of these have a matching passenger side sensor. For my money I always buy new genuine parts for airbag sensors (from dealer or TPS) - I want absolute confidence in something that controls explosives!
