Car won't start, flashing coil warning.

Hello,

bought audi a4 2.5TDI 2006 Auto two weeks ago for my wife. Couple of days ago wife noticed that she takes two attempts to start the car, yesterday once took even 3times to start. Today in the morning she could not start the car at all. As we have this car for two weeks only we have no idea what could be wrong. Another thing, wife also said that she got brake error on dash board yesterday. I have checked brake lights are working fine and little pedal light indicator next to gear switch also works. At the moment there is no brake warning on dashboard, but coil light starts flashing after 8-12sec of ignition on. So 'wire' indicator goes on, then off and after 8-12sec starts flashing. Is there anything I could check myself? I have cable for my bmw, which I could probably use to connect to audi as it does use same connection. Is there any free software to read fault codes?

I am quite sure you need a new brake switch. Replaced mine today (£13 from Audi and took around 20 mins to do)
the flashing coil is the biggest giveaway, its a common fault.

I have sorted. It was fuel pump's motor. Flashing coil warning was due fuel starvation error. Mechanic managed to change motor itself instead of replacing whole fuel pump.
