    Hi All,
Ive recently bought the above car, its fitted with MMI 2g High (as far as I know) and has a 6 disk changer in the glove box, I was wondering how easy/hard it would be to add an AUX or USB input. Ive seen this:
    http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.ph...1&cat=4&page=1

Will that work with my system? It says its a MOST bus, but I hear the audi is a CANBUS. Will this make a difference? or can anyone suggest a way to add an AUX/USB?
    Cheers,
    Steve

That will work. The A6 MMi is MOST bus, but the rest of the car is can-bus.

Great, thanks for that, I have been looking at the AMI as well, but there appears to be a few different part numbers.

    4E0035785D

Any idea what the difference is? or which I would need? My MMI software version is 4220. I hear its just a case of removing the cd changer and plugging the ami in its place
    Cheers

I would update to 5570 before you rip out the CD-Changer and for the AMI unit.

Any of the above will work, they just have different firmware versions, all of above can be updated by a USB stick with the latest firmware file, which you can download direct fro Audi Software-Update > Audi music interface > Infotainment und Kommunikation > Audi Deutschland

That's great, thanks. With regards to the software update for my MMI, is audi the only place I can have this done? any idea how much it would cost?

It's a DIY job, just google or search the forum for MMI 2G 5570, there is a lot of information on how to do this (even youtube videos) You can buy the disks for TPS or your local Audi dealer for £5 don't pay ebay rip-off prices. Also there are a lot of ISO images of the disk around the internet.

I replaced the CD changer in the glovebox with an AMI I bought off ebay (seller called Turbo Herbie or similar). Was plug and plug and although wasn't cheap it was genuine Audi and brand new. Took me about 20 minutes. Plus he was really helpful by email

Can the autochanger be retained if an AMI is fitted ? Im guessing it would need to be re-homed as there may not be sufficient space side by side in the glovebox but that itself wouldn't be a problem.

There is enough room to house the AMI unit next to the CD-Changer, you just need to cut the back out of the other side and hold the AMI unit with a couple of small self tapping screws.
