can someone please tell me if i can get the electrical side of the turbo reconned / replaced or do i have to go out and buy a new unit?

has anyone ever had these problems before? if so ild love to hear your fix.

oh also its pumping out white, diesel smelling smoke when in traffic, im aware that injectors are a common fault would this cause my turbo problem or am i looking at two expensive problems here??

    thanks for your time.

    Hi, welcome to VWAF! .

The turbo actuator motor (J724) can be replaced on it's own, VAG service manuals have a procedure. It can be calibrated by VCDS but a bit tricky but VAS with other tools can for sure do it easier/quicker, more info in this post Link:- Fitting recon turbo, need advice

    The V6 TDi is same engine used in A4, A5, A6, A8, Q7, Phaeton plus Touareg , .

There is only say slight variation on intercooler and some other bits but base engine same, diagnosis / tools / procedures etc same.

There was a slight change to it after 2009 IIRC but 2004 - 2008 are same.

Trust me spent a lot of time reading VAG tech docs and other bits relating to the V6 TDi, I'm only an owner but had more than my fair share dealing with this engine .

    The 2.7 is practically a detuned 3.0 TDi .

No worries, google ssp 350 , first hit should be a PDF which has some general info which can be handy for a V6 TDi owner to familiarise themselves with.

    Page 29 show turbo and J724 .

There are also some other SSPs floating around on the web .
