Now, I know all of you probably know this already, but. Those of you who live in a typical house will be well aware of the Devils own ceiling finish Artex. Originally designed to be a flexible textured finish for ceilings it is found in most houses built in the 60's and beyond.

What you may not be aware of is that until around 1980 Artex contained UP to 3% asbestos. What does this mean for you? Well, it means that if you do any diy which requires abrading the surface (drilling, rubbing down etc) you run the risk of releasing particles of White Asbestos into the immediate environmental. You DO NOT want to do this. If in any doubt you can get it tested. Not all Artex is dangerous, and even if you do have some of the 'bad' stuff it's perfectly safe until it's disturbed so don't lose any sleep. But, if in any doubt, get it checked out.

This has been a "Whipps Tip"!

I knew a lad a long time back who was partial to a bit of LSD, he said his artex turned into huge cave stalactites when he was on a trip.
