start with a remap, simples. in the old days there would be a lot more to it, like airfilter, exhaust, playing with the points gap, closing the valve clearances down from 10 thou to 5 thou, advancing the timing, drilling the main jet in the carby and all the other old skool tuning tricks. now, you get a remap. simple as that. the exhaust will cope fine, so will the intake. you could see if anyone does a high lift cam for it, but i doubt it. i dunno though, check places like piper or kent cams. if you want the airfilter box then stick one on. it won't do much, even with the map, but its your car and your money, but start with the map. this will do all the right things with the fuelling and turbo to make it run as well as it can, then start doing the exhaust and bits. also try looking at the tuning shops and seeing whats on offer, but beware of cheap ebay tat. a cheap chinese intercooler may actually cost you power. also bear in mind that this engine isn't really one for tuning. my s4's v6 is, as thats built for power, but the 1.4 is an economy engine.

Hybrid turbo, high lift cam, better conrods and pistons, get the ports polished, competition clutch and a quick shift linkage. You could sell it abd buy an S3 with a BAM engine, spend some pennies on that bad boy and you have 300 brake. De badge it, add wide steelies and go look for a beemer

if you want to have a quick car, start with a quick car. my s4 is 265 stock, but runs 326 with a map. add new injectors, fuel pump and pair of turbos and you can see 550 bhp easily. start with a 1.4 with 122 and after spending 10k you could see 200.

1.4 Scirocco is a contradiction in terms, a sport car with an OAP engine. Unless you're very young and have difficulty getting insurance sell it to a hairdresser and buy a car with some nuts.

Mate you want to be very careful what mods you do and make sure to check with your insurer. You can easily invalidate your insurance and insurance companies love not paying out. No insurance means a conviction and fine and huge insurance costs in future. I'd advise you keep it standard for the first year after that you'll have a small no claims discount. TBH you could do more with a 1.4 TDI polo mods wise

and anything thats different to how it left the factory is classed as a mod, even an airbox, and watching you pride and joy being taken away on a low loader is no fun, even worse than paying the release fee when you have sorted the insurance for the mods.

That's no problem I'm on a traders policy, my dad owns a string of garages. Just really want to get this car a bit quicker!

mods still need to be declared on a traders policy. a new clause for this year on mine with tradewise is that you can't use it to secure the release of an impounded vehicle. my s4 doesn't cost me any more to insure though, with all the mods declared.

If you have traders cover you can drive whatever you want, no need to mod an OAP engine.
