Slip ring fault? Faulty airbag scrib?

I had my Beetles indicator stalk replaced and when doing so the garage damaged what they called the airbag scrib. Any idea what this is? This made the airbag light remain on and the ESP light randomly came on. They couldn't fix the fault and I was advised to go to a VW dealership for a diagnostics test.

I did this and the fault was diagnosed as being a failed slip ring. I had this replaced but within driving 2 miles the airbag light came back on and the ESP light still randomly comes on. The dealership are now saying that further faults may be causing the lights to come on including an accelerator fault for the ESP light and/or a wiring pin problem, an airbag unit problem or a wiring issue between slip ring and control unit.
Any ideas? I did think the whole point of a diagnostics test was to actually find the fault.

When you leave a car into any garage for repairs any damage they cause it's down to them to rectify not you. I'd be leaving it back and looking for a loaner until its repaired
