Passat B6 door speaker upgrade - no crossover?

I took the doorcard off my Passat to see how I'd go about fitting upgraded door speakers, but I was surprised to see no crossover, and just two speakers- mids in the doorcard and tweaters in the window corners - not like I'd seen described in how-to guides on here.
So I'm wondering how I'd feed my new (component) speakers? This is a base-model '55 plate Passat, with RCD300. Are the mids and tweaters fed individually from the back of the stereo?

I've got a Chinese Delphi RCD510 coming in the post at the moment, I'm guessing that would be expecting a regular pair of wires going to each corner?

Anyone help?

I've just ordered speaker adapters, plus Autoleads PC2-807 adapters to plug the wiring straight into (For £3 on Amazon they look like a godsend not to have to splice anything!).

I guess the easy option is to replace the mids and tweaters but not fit the crossover that came with the new speakers? Just let the car split the signal up, as it does now (however it does it!)

They're only cheap speakers (£35 or so) Anything has to be better than VW's effort here, surely!?
