I'm sure I've read that this is possible somewhere, but is the "infotainment" system capable of playing videos? If so, how?

    Thanks

Put a DVD in. Think there is another way via SD Card but not sure.

Just tried it with an original DVD and with one I've cut - neither work with a "medium is unreadable" error...

Have you got the standard stereo - I have the standard +Nav +Audi Sound system....

I may try another - Does the ignition need to be off/on with the car stationary?

I have the Technology package with 7" screen and that plays DVD's (films), I don't think the Auid sound system does, it's only metioned in the A3 brochure under the Tec Pack. You might be out of luck . Bare in mind it's not a lot of use anyway as you can only see it if your stationary, otherwise it's sound only.
