    Hi all.

Sorry if slightly off topic, but it is a very important one, about an insurance.

Other car just drove into my rear yesterday and have accepted liability already. Thanks for that, Now, there is hard time started:

I need your help please and advise. The most important is which way to go:

    - give the car to Albany assistance to handle repairs ( i dont like them, but they are directly under my insurer, so should have no problem getting them should something go wrong with the repairs or bill). But i dont like them.

    - Take it to my favorite garage (audi specialists ). They have told me that I wont need to pay even an excess if other party confirm their liability. That is already happened). I wont need to pay an excess either. They do have 4 weeks waiting time tho.

    - Use the 3rd party insurer. They have called me and offered everything get done. They also mentioned that if Ill go with them (it is AGES insurance btw) - i will have no risk to get under the hummer of Albany assistance credit hire . Apparently credit hire could fire back on my in some circumstances and I dont want that. Also my insurer told me that If ill use them, then I will have to deal with them direct all the time. Is there any risk?

I haven't been in such position for a very long time, so your advice is much appreciated.

Who do i need to deal with? Theirs positives and drawbacks?

What would you also recommend in situation like this? I might forgot something important here.

Would my premium go up if it is 2nd non fault claim by me and iam also due to get first point for no accidents this year.

    many thanks.

Rule N01: It's your car. You own the car NOT the insurance company.
Rule NO2: You tell the insurers how YOU want the car repaired and by who
Rule NO3 don't stand for any threats or other such nonsense.

AS for non fault accidents, as I understand it (perhaps others can confirm) you will have to declare this information to all insurance company for up to five years. And, sadly yes it might increase your premiums with some companies, as you may be seen as higher risk. The trick might be to shop around for the best deal.

    Got it about the premium.

As for the rules: I know it is my car, but which way is the best to go?

Of course I decide, but to do what?

I am not scared of the threat - I need to make the best choice possible here and I dont have knowledge enough, frankly.

    Thanks.

As you've posted in the A4 B6 section is it safe to assume that your car is indeed an Audi A4 B6 built between 2002 and 2005? I'm not being silly here it is important to establish the facts.

If so then your car will almost certainly fall into the too lower market value to repair or too old to be of significant value in the eyes of the insurance company. Don't forget that most insurance companies will only try to spend UP to 60% of the cars market value on any repair. However as your car was damaged through no fault of your own, you can demand that the other parties insurance company restore your car to it's pre - accident condition. At no point is your insurance campany involved in this at all. The fact that the other driver/party has admitted full liability (in writing, with a witness present? I hope) is a very good thing indeed. If all else fails you can threaten to litigate against them for the full cost of any repair. A claim of up to £10,000 can be dealt with through the small claims court.

The next stage is to get the car accessed by the repair company of YOUR choice for the total impact damage and the fully detailed costings of the repair required to return the car to it's pre accident condition. If in your opinion the car is no longer roadworthy it must be transported to the location of such an evaluation. Ensure that the insurance company is willing to foot the transportation bill before you proceed. Don't forget that if you knowingly drive an unroadworthy car on the public highway, you'll be the one facing charges, if caught.

Ok. Iam actually started to lean towards 3rd party insurance option.

    You right it is a4 B6 2003.

I think id rather take it to the audi dealership for evaluation and give it to them.

I have an official letter from 3rd party insurers confirming their party liability.

What is the next stage? You haven't finished it yet.

I'd let the insurance company write it off, buy it for pennies in the pound and fix it myself
