With the latest bout of warm weather, I have had the windows down on my car today but suddenly, all the switches won't work and I can't get the windows closed and therefore can't take my car anywhere.

I have tried to do a bit of diagnosis and have found the following:
    1. It didn't fix itself after turning the car off and then back on again!
    2. It can't be a door wiring loom issue as none of the switches work at all.
    3. It can't be a power issue as the light to isolate the rear switches still work.
    4. Nothing else seems to be affected (electric mirrors, central locking, etc.

If anyone has experience of this or knows what it could possibly be, I would very much appreciate a pointer or 2. Thanks in advance

I have also checked all the fuses and they seem to be ok (although I've now lost one of them behind the dash as I lost grip of it when it came out. I'll have to see what that affects in due course)

Whilst I'm not sure about your issue I'm afraid, you can open and close all windows at once using your key fob. Hold down the lock button for a number of seconds to make them all close.

Whilst this key fob thing is a function that I have only just found out about. It turns out that the central locking from the key fobs had gone as well. That said, I have worked it out. Sort of. I had a fiddle with some electrical connections under the panels under both the passenger and driver's seats and now it all works. No cost at all. No idea what I did but it is all back working again. One happy boy.

You probably already know this, but I believe that I am right in saying that the convenience module (which controls the remote locking and windows etc.) is under the passenger seat.

It appears that you were correct as I checked in the convenience module to see if there was any water in there that was shorting stuff out. Stuck my finger in and wiggled it bout about. It was dry but I'm not sure what I did but it's fixed and now everything works again.

Convenience is at the back of the car on an 06 8P, 09 onwards the conv & ce modules were combined down to the front, so not sure what you'd moved about, but great its working again.
